Raising Cat and Bug: BIG SUR - 21 Years of Friendship

Noel and I have been friends since 10th grade. We met in the same PE class that Shane and I met. Noel and Shane were actually in 2nd grade together!! We used to write notes to each other every day in high school, always signed BFF, WAY before it was so popular!! Noel and I have been through many of life's ups and downs together and our friendship always comes out stronger than before. We have always said we are going to be like those cards with the old women on them that say

We live 7 hours apart and Big Sur is right in the middle for us, so we met up for a little vacation together. Here are the beautiful pictures from our trip.

Ok, so this picture below has a GREAT story to go with it. We had hiked down to a cove and on the way up we wanted to see this waterfall, so we took a side trip. I knew that we could link up with the real trail if we just went straight up the mountainside. This is just how I think/function...I never thought Noel might not have ever scaled the side of a mountain. So there I go...like a mountain goat...and Noel is saying, "Are you sure?", "maybe we should just find the trail..." and "Is this safe?" HA!!!

So we get to the top and Noel says she NEVER EVER would have done this if she was with Jeff. She would have said, "I'm not going any further. Let's go back to the trail." But, she didn't tell me this and instead she accomplished something she has never done before. More importantly, she KNOWS she is capable of things that maybe she thinks are impossible at first glance. I felt bad when I realized she really was scared, but then I felt proud of her for doing something outside of her comfort zone. WAY TO GO NOEL!!!
