BUTTE MEADOWS Mountain Biking Trip

Every once in a while, we decide to spend a Saturday going to garage sales.  A few weeks ago, we majorly SCORED and found a SPECIALIZED mountain bike for Alli for $15.  They are regularly $300.  We put about $75 into fixing it up and Alli FINALLY had some gears.  What a world of difference it is to have gears!

We headed up to Butte Meadows with Alli's new bike.  Jill had to ride with Shane and was majorly bummed to not be on her own bike.   This is Alli at the top of her first hill.

This is Alli at the top of the THIRD hill

....she says, "Now I know why you are always telling us PEDAL GIRLS!!!!"  The girls outweigh me now, so our bike jaunts around town are quite challenging when they dont pedal!!

(My current daily set up is a tandem with a trail a bike attached...I can only find the picture to the right, though...which was last year when I took my nephew once a week to the park with us.)

Alli did an amazing job pedaling all the way back to the yurt.   At first she would get off the bike to go through thick rock on the downhill, but by the end she was just cruisin' through.  Near the yurt, the hill is a bit steep so she walked a portion of it, but all other hills she biked up and learned how to use her gears correctly.  She was SO proud of herself.

Once we got to the yurt, everyone has to see if there is a way to get in.  (There never is, it is always locked!!)

Then we eat and spend time relaxing while the girls play.  Cold weather play is always hard, especially for Jill.  She just refuses to leave gloves/shoes on...we told them, "Once you are cold, you are not going to warm up!"  It was 38 degrees out.  Below, is Alli keeping Jill's toes warm.

We were there about an hour before the girls adventured off and got their feet wet....then, we had to leave.  Below, Jill has her mittens on her feet.  She forgot socks!  Overall, the girls loved it and Shane and I always love anything we get to do outside as a family that keeps us active.   Next time we come to Butte Meadows, there will hopefully be snow.
